You are eligible to participate if you have attended an LAFPP Financial Planning Education seminar or Financial Planning Education webinar and one of the following:

• Understanding Your Plan webinar
• Service Retirement and DROP Entry webinar

DROP Members: You are eligible to participate if you have attended an LAFPP Financial Planning Education seminar or webinar.

This counseling program provides a personalized review of your financial situation and offers guidance in developing a comprehensive retirement plan as you transition into retirement.

Created with you in mind, we’ve designed this series to meet your needs based on your specific career stage. This series has been formatted to provide greater emphasis on topics that will help you prepare for retirement and also assist you with your overall financial plan. A financial planning educator, overseen by LAFPP, will moderate and host these events.

These seminars do not provide detailed pension benefits information. Everyone is strongly advised to either complete all parts of the “LAFPP Benefits Information Series” or to attend the “LAFPP Comprehensive Benefits Presentation“ prior to attending one of these webinars. 

Financial Planning Education Webinars  

After completing the “Benefits Information Series” or attending the “Comprehensive Benefits Presentation“, we encourage you to further your knowledge on retirement planning by attending the Financial Planning Education Webinar. This event is presented in conjunction with FourSquare Financial, a licensed financial planning educator overseen by LAFPP.

Benefits Information Series – All Active Members

A series of webinars designed to fit within your busy schedule, these informative sessions will get you on the path to understanding your benefits. DROP Members are encouraged to attend Part 2 and Part 3B of the series.

• Part 1: Understanding Your Plan – The Three Types of LAFPP Pensions (1.5 hrs.)
  This webinar provides an overview of your retirement benefits. Topics include: Retirement Eligibility Requirements, How to Calculate Your Pension, Disability Pensions and Process, Survivor Benefits Pre- and Post-Retirement (All attendees will be required to download a retirement estimate from MyLAFPP).

  Examine how retirement affects your health insurance benefits and what you need to know about your coverage. Topics include: Defining Subsidies, Health Subsidy Eligibility, Frozen vs. Non-Frozen Subsidy, Medicare and Your Dental Subsidy Eligibility.
